Camilo Olaviano Osias

As one of the first pensionados, Osias studied education at the University of Columbia. Before entering politics in 1924, he was an educator, teaching and holding administrative positions. As a resident commissioner in Washington, D.C., in 1929, he was instrumental in the passage of the Hare-Hawes-Cutting Act. In 1934 he was elected to the Constitutional Convention, and in 1935 to the National Assembly.
