Manila fire

Manila fire

An aerial view of Manila during the American bombardment of Intramuros. The walled City is obscured by smoke; much of the area close to the north bank of Pasig, levelled. Note: Quezon Boulevard on the left which is joined by España (left corner) and crossed by Azcarraga (now C. M. Recto Ave.). The wheel-like structure on the lower left portion is the Bilibid compound and across, at the corner of España and Quezon Boulevard is the U-shaped building of Far Eastern University. Running parallele to Quezon Boulevard, slightly curving to the right towards plaza Santa Cruz is Rizal Avenue. All the bridges across the Pasig had already been blown.
