520 _aReunion program for surviving officers and men of the Philippine Scouts and their families. The Philippine Scouts were a professional unit of the United States Army in the Philippines, composed of Filipino enlisted men commanded by mainly American (but including a few Filipino) officers. The Philippine Scouts fought bravely during the Philippine defense campaign, 1941-1942; they were the best trained units in the Philippines at that time. The Philippine Scouts Heritage Society was organized to keep the legacy of the Philippine Scouts alive; it published a major compilation of documents in 1996 (The Philippine Scouts) and organized annual reunions. This program contains speeches, congratulatory messages and letters, messages and a brief history of the Philippine Scouts. Also contains a section on Philippine Scouts who were awarded the U.S. Medal of Honor, the highest award given by the US government to a military person. The centennial reunion was held at the Presidio in San Francisco; the keynote speaker was Anthony J. Principi, U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
