520 _aThis book relates the war experiences of Private Doyle Decker, the author’s father, who served with the 200th Coast Artillery (Anti Aircraft) Regiment in the defense of the Philippines. He and a few friends escaped from the Death March, spent some time roaming the mountains of Bataan and Zambales, settling for a while in the Fassoths’ camp and then joining the guerrillas in Central Luzon. The author based this account on his father’s memories, conversations with veterans who knew and operated with his father, correspondence with other historians, and archival research. The author served in Vietnam and experienced jungle warfare, thus making him exceptionally suited to write his father’s story. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
