500 _a A close-up image of the Virgin, carved in the classical style and better than most of its kind. According to the story, the image was found by afisherman from Calape, Maximo Dumayag, at the Inabanga river sometime i 1915. He was fishing early in the morning when he noticed that a big seashell, locally known as tacobo, had been caught inside his net. He threw it away but it always came back, so he brought it home and used it as an ashtray. For several nights after the incident, Dumayag was said to have had dreams of the Virgin Mary pleading to be released from the shell and placed on an altar for the people to worship. Since then, the Dumayag hut has been frequently visited by pilgrims.
