500 _aAlthough he was a law graduate, Guerrero--the son of painter Lorenzo Guerrero--never practiced law. Instead he wrote lyrics, short stories, and novellas; he also edited El Renacimiento, La Vanguardia, and La Opinion, a newspaper which he founded. He represented Manila''s south district in the first Philippine Assembly and served as a city councilor and the secretary of an independence mission. "Poet of the Revolution", was born in Ermita on May 30, 1873. He died on June 12, 1929. He was a brother of the physician Manuel Guerrero and a nephew of the botanist Leon Ma. Guerrero. Photo taken of the lawyer, nespaperman and poet from Ermita. On the strength of his winning a controversial court case against the abuses of Constabulary, he was elected assembly-man in 1907.
