500 _aVilla Escudero is a progressive community, barrio-like in size, where more than a hundred families work in the vast Escudero plantation planted to coconuts, lanzones, bananas, rice, and other fruits and crops. It has its own elementary school and a church (the parish was established in 1952 in honor of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary). It even has its own hydroelectric dam which supplies electricity to the community. Photo shows the dam which harnesses the water flowing from the brook inside the hacienda.
