An American commander od the B-17C bomber which reportedly destroyed the Japanese warship Haruna on December 10, 1941, off the Babuyan channel. Actually, the Haruna did not receive any direct hits. On his way to Clark Field(Pampanga), his plane was attacked by Japanese fighter planes and he died when his parachute failed to open. His body was found near the wreckage of the plane along a little country road some 3 miles west of Mt. Arayat. The hero of the 14th squadron was given a posthumous D.S.C.(Distinguised Service Cross) award on December 21, 1941Image type: Reproduction: Photograph
