When the Japanese started pulling the fingernails off of such writers, the manuscript was destroyed. Many questions will come to the mind of the reader which cannot be answered for military reasons. Many stories cannot be told because of Government censorship. However, the reader may read between the chapters the atrocities of a heathen country, whose only hope for change of heart and soul is in our God." - From the PrefaceSummary: "The author, a Baptist missionary, was on her way to India with a group of fellow missionaries. They arrived in Manila after the attack on Pearl harbor and the voyage ended. Allowed to remain free and do mission work in Manila until July 1944, they were interned in Los Banos. Returned to the US on the S.S. Admiral E. W. Eberle, arriving at Terminal Island, California on May 2, 1945. The book includes drawings and numerous poems by the author." - Roderick Hall
