Abel Sr. was in the 192nd Tank Battalion which was sent to the Philippines just before war broke out. He talks briefly about his experiences in the defense of the beaches and Bataan, but the bulk of the book on surrender and after: Death March, Camp O’Donnell, Cabanatuan, Lipa, Camp Murphy, Bilibid, and then hell ship (Hokusen Maru) to Takao and to Japan (on the Melbourne Maru).
