Charles A. Willoughby). The Allied Intelligence Bureau was MacArthur’s intelligence organization in the Southwest Pacific Area, including the Philippines; many Filipinos were sent by submarine from Australia, beginning with Maj. Jesus Villamor, who in turn organized his spy network in the Visayas, with agents penetrating into Luzon and establishing nets there. This work gives credit to the many Filipinos who risked their lives (and many who paid with their lives). Baclagon states that the book is based on the notes and records of Col. Salvador Abcede, commander of the 7th Military District (Negros Island). How much is Abcede’s and how much is Baclagon’s own work is difficult to ascertain since, as is usual with Col. Baclagon’s works, there are no sources cited or footnotes. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
