Starkly simple and bare is the façade of Banate church built by Fr. Eustacio Torres in 1870. Banate, one of the coastal towns in northern Iloilo, was founded in 1763 and subsequently united to Dumangas due to its small population as a result of frequent Muslim attacks. Later it was placed under Barotac Nuevo until 1843, when it was finally established as an independent parish. YYYImage type: Reproduction: PhotographMedia format: With prints
