KW - Reyes, Norman, KW - Filipino Americans KW - Biography KW - Manila (Philippines) N2 - Norman Reyes was a mestizo born of a Filipino father and American mother who is better known as a radio broadcaster who read the “Bataan has Fallen” spiel on April 9, 1942. In this autobiography, he talks about how his parents met and married, settled in San Juan, Rizal and gave birth to him. He describes his growing up in Manila with two cultures, and details his studies and his classmates, his travels and adventures. The last three chapters deal with the arrival of war, his being commissioned as a lieutenant in the Philippine Army, and his role in the Voice of Freedom in Corregidor. He ends with the surrender and his capture. (He omits the rest of the war from his book, which is unfortunate, as he was forced to broadcast for the Japanese during the occupation). After the war, he migrated to the US. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose UR - https://issuu.com/filipinasheritagelibrary/docs/rhc-015272?e=18015266/45533142 ER -
