Gen. Flanagan also includes the aftermath of the raid: the return of the enraged Japanese and the massacre of Filipino residents in Los Baños as retaliation. The author was an officer of the 11th Airborne Division but did not participate directly in the raid (he was leading his unit to contain the Japanese in Fort McKinley, thereby providing support to the raiding force).
