Sneddon focuses on his experiences as a prisoner of war, with very little on his experiences in the Bataan campaign. He describes the Death March in detail, and his experiences in Camp O’Donnell, Davao Penal Colony, Lasang, and then hell ship Shinyo Maru. The ship was sunk by an American submarine off Sindangan Point, Mindanao, and Sneddon was among those who were able to escape. He and other escapees were aided by Filipinos, and Sneddon was one of those who were taken out of Mindanao to Australia by the submarine Narwhal.
