N1  - Circulating note of Banco Español Filipino. The bank''s first issue--January 1, 1904--during the American occupation. Format and design are similar to the issues during Spanish colonial rule, except that the denomination is expressed as pesos  instead of pesos fuertes.   In the photo is a 5-peso note, printed by Barclay and Fey, Ltd., London; size is 6 5/16 x 3 7/8 inches.  Colors: Face--black overprint on pink paper, serial numbers and seal in red. Back--black overprint.
