N1  - Shown is a Filipina in an 1820 - ish traje de mestiza with a short camisa and lace-edged panuelo.  The camisa sleeves are too short and billowy for what was fashionable during the period.  The checkered skirt was worn by mestizas without the tapiz which they associated with the apron or delantal of the servants; print
