N1  - The Dominicans brought the image to this town in 1605. A certain Catan Gamboa built the first church that was to be the shrine of the Lady until 188O, when an earthquake toppled down the two towers that flanked its facade. Repairs were made on the edifice which completely crashed due to another tremor in March 1892. From that year until the early years of the 2Oth century, the Marian image had to be housed in a barn. A massive church which was built within the first half of the century is the present sanctuary of the Lady; print
