N1  - Manuel V. Moran was the first Chief Justice under the Republic of the Philippines and the first Philippine Ambassador to Spain and the Vatican. He will be long remembered for his book on the Laws of Evidence and Comments on the Rules of Court, recognized textbooks all over the country. It  was in recognition of his expertise in law and his reputation as an authority on the rules of court that he was named to head the committee to revise the Civil Code. He became Chief Justice in July 9, 1945 and retired in 1951.        He died on August 23, 1961 , of celebral hemorrhage...From: Justices of the Supreme Court of the Philippines...by Victor J.
