N1  - At the end of the Second World War, Sulu witnessed a resurgence of the Islamic faith. Expensive, concrete edifices replaced the dilapidated wooden mosques and built near the new mosques were Muslim schools where lessons in Koran, Arabic and principles of morality based on Islamic writings are given. Teachers of these madrasa schools are usually local scholars who hare studied in India, Pakistan and Cairo, Egypt. One such school is the Maimbung Islamic Institute located opposite the "old" mosque of Maimbung; With prints
