The former capital of the province, Masinloc was established as a town in 1607. Augustinian Father Andres del Espiritu Santo was its known founder. Under his supervision, the church and convent of Masinloc were built on November 18 of the same year, placed under the patronage of Saint Andrew. The church is one of 26 colonial churches in the country recognized by the National Museum as National Cultural Treasures.
