In particular, the author focuses on one man, Major Rex Blow, of the Australian Army. He and seven others escaped prison camp, evaded the Japanese and managed to sail to Mindanao, where they joined Col. Fertig’s 10th Military District. Later he was sent to North Borneo after Mindanao was secured. Major Blow and his group of Australians contributed greatly to the guerrilla organization, and this book documents the little-known fact. The author, a freelance Australian lady, writes from her own experience too, since she was born in Malaya and saw the start of the war in Singapore, before being evacuated to Australia. Maj. Blow was her brother-in-law (he married Sheila’s sister just before the war). - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose List(s) this item appears in: Guerrillas - Visayas, Mindanao
