Maj. Bank was one of those liberated by the US Army Rangers and guerrillas in January 1945. An air corps officer who later was elected to the Alabama legislature, where he fought for veterans’ benefits, Bank’s booklet was one of the first post-war accounts to add detail to the Death March and prisoner of war horrors. The booklet begins with the surrender, and does not cover his experiences in the siege of Bataan. - Prof. Ricardo T.
