"Prepared by the Historical Record Section, Headquarters USAFIP, NL... in 1945" p. viiSummary: Publication of the official report of the US Army Forces in the Philippines, North Luzon (USAFIP NL), covering the guerrilla command’s operations in the liberation of Northern Luzon in 1945. Details conditions prior to the main American landings on Lingayen Gulf, estimate of Japanese strength on Luzon, and major campaigns and battles fought by the mostly Filipino guerrilla force. Separate portions of this report document the Japanese view through interrogations of captured Japanese officers and the role of the non-combat USAFIP NL units. Ancheta adds his own comments on the USAFIP NL operations; his assessment of the Battle of Tangadan, and the officers of roster. He also reprints Gen. Robert H. Arnold’s account of the contribution of the people of Abra to the defense and liberation of the Philippines. Arnold was a guerrilla leader in northern Luzon; Ancheta was a reserve officer who commanded a regiment of the USAFIP NL at the end of the war. As in the original report, a fold-out chart of the USAFIP NL’s chain of command is included. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose List(s) this item appears in: Bacsil Ridge Battle
