The maiden issue appeared on August 8, 1811, although publication data did not appear on the masthead till the second issue. Printed on Chinese paper, it contained from 7 to 15 pages depending upon the availability of news. Items were taken from English newspapers and there was a notable absence of local news in all of the 15 issues that were issued.
