Laurel delivers his inaugural address as president of the Japanese-sponsored Second Philippine Republic in front of the Legislative Building on October 14, 1943. As one of the basic policies, Laurel sought for "the preservation of the territorial integrity of the Philippines as unit of the Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere".
