Built by Eustaquio Neri and Apolonia Cuico in about 1820, this house is said to be the first Spanish colonial house built in Mambajao. Its numerous and enormous sliding capiz-shell windows give the house an appearance of lightness and airness. YYY The first antillian house built in Mambajao remians intact after 150 years; built by Eustaquio Neri and Apolonia Cuico about 1820, and presently owned by Esperanza vda. de Neri, mother of former Ambassador Felino Neri. The antillian style flourished in this country during the 19th century, derived from a colonial style popular in the Antilles; typical houses were made of wood on a stone foundation, with the second floor protruding slightly from the ground floor.
