New mosque of Maimbung constructed in the early 1950''s is a painted concrete temple complete with a central dome flanked by low, tapering, polygonal minarets capped with the ubiquitous crescent and star resting on tear-shaped bases. Tile roofing of the central dome is characteristically Byzantine.
