But [Joseph Huber Jr.], a Cuyahoga Falls resident, is drawing new attention to his family’s struggle by self-publishing the autobiography of his mother, Thelma Thompson Huber. Most of the book, Such a Life, is devoted to the events before and immediately after Feb. 3, 1945, when a small American force overtook the prison camp that held the Hubers — Thelma, husband Joseph Sr. and children Joseph Jr., Barbara and Stephen. Their camp was one of four in the Philippines that were liberated in a one-month period."
