Marine aviation in the Philippines Major Charles W. Boggs, Jr. - [S.l.] : Historical Division, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps., 1951. - viii, 166 p. : ill., ports., maps ; 27 x 21 cm.

This is a factually accurate account of Marine Corps operations in the re-conquest of the Philippines in World War II. The Philippine victories were primarily Army and Navy operations. Marines, comprising only a fraction of the total forces engaged, played a secondary but significant role in the overall victory. They were able to test on a large scale the fundamental Marine doctrine of close air support for ground troops in conventional land operations. This test they passed with credit. - Prof. Ricardo T.
