Marche gives a comparison of the Tagbanua alphabet and words with Tagalog, Bisayan, Ilocano and Pampango. According to Robert Fox, the American anthropologist who has undertaken major excavations that have provided material evidence of Philippine prehistory, the documents available indicate at least 16 kinds of script or syllabary writing identified with different groups. Though there are variations, they all come from the same cultural tradition. (Kasaysayan: The Story of the Filipino People, Vol. 2)
