Bongao

Bongao

On the far end is Pababag Bay. Bongao''s population of 60,000 is a conglomeration of Taosug, Samal and Badjao tribes, immigrants from the Visayas and Luzon, Chinese and others of Arabic extraction; they are hospitable and trustworthy. This ancient trading post was known to Arab and Chinese traders in the 14th century as the "golden passage" to Suluk, the ancient name for Sulu.
