The Philippine terno

The Philippine terno

A woman in the dominant fashion style from 1900-1910. The upper garment, consisting of the camisa and pañuelo , is made of similar material, probably sinamay, pinukpok or kalibo. All three fabrics need to be starched stiffly to look stylish. The saya is designed along the serpentina silhoutte, which is slim at the waist flaring towards the bottom with the upper and lower parts cut and then sewn together in a zigzagging pattern.

Circa 1910
