This church was built in 1879 by Rev. Juan J. Aragones. Oslob''s first church was located at a place now called Daan Lungsod. It was then called Boloc-boloc because of the natural springs near the seashore which supplied the people with fresh water. The parish and government was transferred to its present location upon the recommendation of its first parish priest, a Spaniard. This municipality lies 117 kms. southeast of Cebu City, along the shore facing Mindanao Sea. On clear days, the island of Mindanao can be seen in the distance.
