The Basilan Cathedral was the first Catholic church established in Basilan. Built in 1859, the original structure made of nipa and wood was destroyed during the Second World War. It was reconstructed in 1946 but was again damaged by a fire in 1962. Shown is the church as it was built in 1965, following the design of Father Maximino Cerezo.
