The nurses were called the Angels of Bataan and Corregidor by their grateful patients, and were exposed to the dangers of bombing despite the fact that they were in hospitals. The book tells the whole story, from joining the armed forces, to service in the Philippines just before the war, the siege, imprisonment in the University of Santo Tomas, liberation and return home. The authors, military nurses themselves, interviewed some of the surviving nurses, and include the story of those nurses captured in Guam. Appendices provide the names of all the nurses, including those evacuated before the surrender, and a tribute to Major Maude C. Davison, chief nurse in Corregidor. - Prof. Ricardo T. JoseSummary: The story of nearly 100 U.S. Army and Navy nurses captured on Guam, Bataan, and Corregidor and their experiences as they continued to care for the sick and wounded throughout their internment in the prison camp. - Roderick Hall
